Starting in February 2013, the offices of the City Clerk and the City Treasurer will permanently combined to share duties, responsibilities as well as physical space. This will allow the City to provide more efficient customer service to residents as they can obtain the necessary forms and pay their bills in one location rather than visiting two different offices. Similarly, the duties of the City Clerk and City Treasurer's office will be shared; staff in the two departments will work together to complete the responsibilities required of each office. The cost of relocating the City Treasurer's physical office space was a one-time cost of $14,306.73; however, savings in wages will be approximately $25,189 each fiscal year. All together, the City of Ypsilanti realizes a net savings of $11,382.26 in this year fiscal year.
