The Carson City Police Department has partnered with the Carson City Hospital to offer expanded/extended coverage for the hospital, the city and surrounding areas (as needed). The hospital and city share the cost to have an officer on duty during the evening and midnight shifts, 7 days a week. The officer is stationed at the hospital but he/she routinely patrols the city and answers all emergency calls from central dispatch. Before this agreement was reached the city had an officer on duty about 100 hours week. We now have an officer on duty 140 hours a week at no additional cost to the City.
On or about April 12, 2012, the Carson City Chief of Police met with hospital officials to present the city’s offer to the hospital for additional police coverage for the hospital. The city and hospital reached an agreement in May, 2012, and the shared services agreement began June 1, 2012.
