The Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA, Lansing, MI) has asked Hart Hydroelectric to consider the formation of an 9-member community full-requirements power supply arrangement. The MPPA recently contracted for an engineering study which is now complete and delivered to the members. A full-requirements arrangement would delegate to MPPA the duty to manage the City of Hart's electric power assets and power supply contracts. In return, MPPA would charge the members a single uniform wholesale power rate as amended from time-to-time.
Although the City is a MPPA member, the full-requirements proposal is a new venture not currently offered to members at this time. The next step is to negotiate the terms of the full-requirements arrangement with MPPA staff and other 8 members.
The 8 MPPA members now considering the full-requirements proposal are as follows: Charlevoix, Chelsea, Eaton Rapids, Harbor Springs, Lowell, Petoskey, Portland, and St. Louis.
