Description	The Brighton Area Fire Authority (BAFA) is a combined fire department for Brighton, Brighton Twp, and Genoa Twp. The department is overseen by a board consisting of two members from each community and one citizen. It is funded by a 1.25 millage from each participating community. The authority covers 74 square miles and has 86 employees (7 full time). Economies of scale make BAFA less expensive for the communities involved than it would be for them to each operate their own fire department. BAFA allows the communities to provide a high level of service at a lower price.
