The City of Lincoln Park is implementing a plan to further achieve savings by collaborating with the Lincoln Park School District.
A plan to co-locate City Hall operations into an existing building owned and operated by the Lincoln Park School District has been developed. The school district occupies half of the building the city would occupy the remaining half. An increase in operations and labor savings can be achieved resulting in approximately $250,000 annually.
This consolidation would allow for the city’s administration to better serve the public given the aging building, circa 1920 fire house, having roof leaks, basement flooding, mold, an aging elevator which is often inoperable, building mechanical systems that are aged and in disrepair or not functional. It is anticipated that a significant amount capital improvements are required for the continued operations of the existing building and would offer no material benefit to servicing the public.
Update-
Lincoln Park has dropped this proposal after reviewing the cost of the relocation. Lincoln Park is under financial distress and does not have the funds that would be needed to relocate to the proposed building. The estimated cost was nearly one million dollars to bring the proposed site up to standards.
